CZASE is launching a new CZASE Book Award
CZASE Award for an outstanding research monograph
The award acknowledges outstanding achievement in scholarly research in the form of a published monograph for researchers in English studies at any stage of their career.
Frequency: CZASE conference years, 1 regular prize The first call for CZASE book award proposals will be open in 2024 for the CZASE conference in 2025.
Proposal deadline: Proposals must be sent no later than two months before the opening of the CZASE conference, accompanied by an electronic copy of the book, a link to the URL of the publication and its ISBN, and a brief CV which must contain the university affiliation, main field(s) of research, and previous publications. Upon request, hard copies should be provided.
Eligibility:
Applicants need to be members of CZASE (in multi-authored monographs at least one author must be a member of CZASE) for at least two years prior to application;
the first edition of the monograph must be published no earlier than at the time of the preceding CZASE conference;
members of the CZASE board and the inspection committee are excluded from receiving awards.
Criteria:
Novelty
Depth and breadth of the study, both theoretically and empirically
Relevance for further research in the field
Clarity (arguments are clearly presented; text is comprehensible to a broad audience)
Selection Committee and the process:
The selection committee consists of the members of the CZASE board, and international experts in the field are invited for review;
a proposal can be submitted by any member of CZASE;
monographs in the following fields are eligible:
English language and linguistics;
literatures in the English language;
cultural and area studies in English;
translation studies (involving the English language);
English language teaching methodology.
