Declaration of Solidarity and Concern

The Czech Association for the Study of English (CZASE) joins the Declaration of Solidarity and Concern published by the Hungarian Society for the Study of English on Feb 5, 2025, expressing full support for students and colleagues fighting for the academic freedom in Serbia.

Česká asociace anglistů se připojuje k Vyjádření solidarity a znepokojení zveřejněném maďarskou asociací anglistů (HUSSE) 5. února 2025, a vyjadřuje tak plnou podporu studentům a kolegům bojujícím za akademickou svobodu v Srbsku.

DECLARATION OF SOLIDARITY AND CONCERN

The Hungarian community of English Studies has been monitoring the news about the recently intensifying fight of Serbian students and colleagues for greater democratic freedom, and about some of the atrocities these actions triggered in certain militant circles. The General Assembly of HUSSE hereby expresses concern for the academic freedom in Serbia and extends warm solidarity with those colleagues and students who bravely stand for their ideals notwithstanding the impediments and dangers. We also call other ESSE member organizations to join our declaration.

VYJÁDŘENÍ SOLIDARITY A ZNEPOKOJENÍ

Maďarská anglistická komunita sleduje zprávy o v poslední době sílícím boji srbských studentů a kolegů za větší demokratické svobody a o některých zvěrstvech, která tyto akce vyvolaly v některých militantních kruzích. Valné shromáždění HUSSE tímto vyjadřuje obavy o akademické svobody v Srbsku a vyjadřuje hlubokou solidaritu kolegům a studentům, kteří statečně stojí za svými ideály navzdory překážkám a nebezpečím. Vyzýváme také ostatní členské organizace ESSE, aby se k našemu prohlášení připojily.
